Virtual Console
The virtual Console is a special section that is located inside the WII online store. The virtual Console allows you to download games onto your Wii System. The games that are in the Virtual Console are all from past Nintendo Gaming systems. These games are the exact replicas from the original games and can be purchased with Wii points.
These games can cost you as low as 500 Wii points to 1200 Wii points. They have been over 10,000 of these games downloaded from the Virtual Console since 2007. The virtual console is region locked though which can be disappointing to some. What region locked means is that the game will only be offered in a certain region but may not be available in other.
Although all the graphics in the virtual console game are original, they do have some enhancements that have been added. These additional features include better graphics have been sharpened a bit due to the new graphic abilities that are available.
If you were able to save your game on the original game, you will be able to save the games that you downloaded from the virtual console. However, this time around they will be saved on the Wii memory system. If your original game did not have a save feature though the virtual console will not either. Remember they are the same game just now available for the Wii system.
If you have a Wii version 4, you are able to save your virtual concept games on a removable SD card. However, you must note that the actual Virtual console game will not be played from the card but from the stored memory inside the Wii. In addition, your stored virtual console games cannot be used on other Wii systems. They only work on the systems on which they were purchased. You can, however, purchase a game for friends Wii by using the send as gift feature.
It is important to note though that the gift feature is also region locked. If your friend lives in a different region than you then you will not be able to send them the Virtual Console game. One good advantage of the Virtual Console is if your game becomes damaged or will not play, Nintendo will provide support to assist you in fixing the problem.
As you can see, the virtual console is another great idea thought up by Nintendo. It provides you with a great way to find your favorite game of the past. If you own a Wii head on over to the online store and see if you are, favorite game is located in the virtual console.
