The Xbox Backwards Compatibility Feature Has Made Xbox 360 King
You have probably been subject to a lot of gossip concerning the Xbox backwards compatibility function. This function actually is not what you probably had in mind, it does not mean that you can take your console and turn it around to play, although that would be a humorous thing to do. What this function initially means, is you can take the newer version of the Xbox console, which is presently the Xbox 360, and utilize it to play original Xbox games as well.
This eliminates any reason for keeping an older Xbox system. It seems as if the team at Microsoft wants their customers to have to only submit to one machine. They have made this possible by including a backwards compatible Xbox 360 Hard Drive.
The hard drive is practically like the brain of the machine. Think of a hard drive that is located within your computer console. It is from that exact point in your computer that commands are sent to the rest of the console, telling them how they should operate. The hard drive in a sense is like the human brain, it sends signals to the rest of the equipment telling it when to react. Our brains function in the same manner.
There are no additional costs to have the Xbox backwards compatibility feature added onto your console. Often times the consoles are updated, to provide consumers with a better gaming environment. All updates are released through Xbox Live, but can also be obtained in other ways as well. Your manual that is included with your gaming console will describe in depth, what you need to do to ensure your system is up to par.
However, before you can fully utilize the Xbox backwards compatibility feature, there are a few pertinent steps you must take before playing any original Xbox game. You must have the latest updates for every Xbox game that is listed on the compatibility list. Without the pertinent updates that you need for these games, you will not be able to play original Xbox games on your Xbox 360 gaming console.
Albert Penello, whom is a group marketing manager for Xbox 360, spoke on the Xbox backwards compatibility function in early 2008. Penello stated that at that present time there were 465 backward compatible games available on the market. When asked if there would be any more games added to the present list of backward compatible games, Penello stated that there were no further plans for release. At the present time he felt as if they had come to the end of original Xbox games that would be added to the present long list of games.
Panello, stated that all games that were given priority to be backwards compatible were games that many people enjoyed from the original Xbox. Titles such as Halo, and Halo2 were two top sellers; therefore they were amongst the first of the Xbox games to obtain the Xbox backwards compatibility feature.
At the present time all we can do as consumers is wait for a new list of games to emerge. If they simply do not hit the market, we can be sure that the Microsoft Corporation has something else underneath their sleeves.
